Glenwood Springs - "Something for Everyone."

This truly describes the diverse setting of Glenwood Springs, Colorado. Blending the Old with the New, the visitor can find anything from downtown buildings dating back to the late 1800's to the beautiful, new Community Center which opened in 2002. The downtown area offers a myriad of quaint shops, book stores, several restaurants and the Frontier Historical Museum, with more shopping and restaurants in the surrounding areas. Historic figures like Doc Holliday and Teddy Roosevelt were frequent visitors to Glenwood. Doc Holliday is reported to be buried on the hillside above Glenwood in the Pioneer Cemetery.

The City is situated in a beautiful valley where two rivers, the Colorado and the Roaring Fork, join on the edge of town. These waters offer first-class Gold Medal fly fishing, kayaking, river rafting, not to mention a fantastic 18-mile hiking/bike trail along the Colorado River in the Glenwood Canyon. This Canyon was featured on the Discovery Channel for the engineering feat accomplished in constructing a four-lane highway through the narrow channel. Glenwood is easily accessible by auto (right off I-70), plane (3 airports within 45 minutes), bus (Greyhound), and train (Amtrak depot right downtown)!

Enjoy the healing waters of the Hot Springs Pool which was once used by the Ute indians as wintering grounds. The nearby Vapor Caves were also believed to have soothing healing powers, and were called "Yampa," meaning "Big Medicine." There is also boating on some of the surrounding lakes and reservoirs, golfing and visiting the "8th Wonder of the World" - the Glenwood Caverns and Historic Fairy Caves. Summertime activities also include weekly evening concerts in the park and Strawberry Days, the oldest continuous celebration held west of the Mississippi.

Come for a Visit . . . Stay for a Lifetime!
