Located along America's most scenic highway, "The San Juan Skyway", Ouray has been a special destination of world travelers for more than 100 years. This small, intimate community nestled in some of the most spectacular scenery anywhere, is repeatedly referred to as the "Switzerland of America".
Since its grand opening in 1989, Ridgway State Pak has become one of Southwest Colorado's recreation hot spots. Ridgway's modern facilities and view of the bordering San Juan Mountain make this park ideal for outdoor enthusiasts and sightseers alike. Ridgway is one of the best-equipped and most beautiful parks in the region. In addition, it is one of the most accessible recreation areas for the physically challenged in the United States.
At the Park the anglers can catch rainbow and brown trout that the reservoir is stocked with annually. Others enjoy boating, or Jet Skiing. You can soak in the sun at the swimming beach area, which has amenities like grass areas, barbecue pits, picnic tables, a playground area, and sand volleyball court. There are 25 sites open for winter camping at Ridgway State Park where electrical hookups are available. Laundry and shower facilities are available through the summer months and drinking water is available year round. No matter what the season, Ridgway State Park has something for everyone in one of the most scenic areas of the state.
